What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

Wildhope

Support the Wild Hope Center for Vocation
The Wild Hope Center for Vocation is dedicated to developing ethical, educated, thinking leaders. In 2003, PLU received a $2 million grant from the Lilly Endowment, Inc to launch Wild Hope. PLU is one of 95 institutions to receive a grant for this purpose, and has been praised by Lilly Endowment, Inc for its innovative and effective work linking vocation with the university's educational mission. To continue these programs and to improve our offerings for students and faculty alike, your support is needed, gifts of all sizes help build this impressive program at Pacific Lutheran University.

Wild Hope challenges students to:

  • Identify and ask questions of meaning and value in their own lives, and for the world.
  • Explore their passions and purpose in life and their roles as world citizens.
  • Uphold PLU's Lutheran heritage as a commitment to academic excellence and freedom.
  • Support sustained reflection on vocation and life's purpose.

Make Your Mark

Wild Hope Endowment funds will ensure that both current and future generations of Lutes will leave the university with an understanding of their own unique calling and a clear sense of what they hope to do with, in the words of poet Mary Oliver, their "one wild and precious life."

Naming Opportunities

Gifts at varying levels allow donors to name parts of the venture.  Different naming opportunities are available, ranging from the Center for Vocation or the Center for the First Year Experience to naming Student-Faculty Service Learning Research grants, a Wild Hope Lectureship or the On the Road program, with multiple naming opportunities in between.
