Drastic budget cuts have wreaked havoc on arts programs in schools across the nation. But in Tacoma, a collection of passionate people at the Broadway Center for the Performing Arts, five of whom are Lutes, has come together to keep the performing arts alive and well.

PLU Ranks 3rd Nationwide for Peace Corps Volunteers

Pacific Lutheran University has catapulted 15 spots up the Peace Corps' list of the top volunteer-producing colleges and universities for 2014-from No. 18 all the way to No. 3. The annual list recognizes small, medium, large and graduate institutions; PLU tied for third this year in the category of small universities (fewer than 5,000 students), with 16 undergraduate alumni currently serving as Peace Corps volunteers.

PLU Nursing Students Top in Exam Pass Rates

The results are in for the 2013 NCLEX-RN exams, and for the second year in a row, Pacific Lutheran University Nursing students have achieved the highest pass rate among all baccalaureate and higher-degree nursing programs in the state.

Pacific Lutheran University has been named one of the nation's 50 greenest colleges and universities by The list ranks institutions that have distinguished themselves by launching the most impactful initiatives to reduce on-campus waste and energy consumption, promote alternative transportation, provide funding to student and faculty-led green proposals and take other measures to benefit the environment.

You Can't Argue with Success

One of the oldest nationally competitive forensics programs in the country, PLU's award-winning Speech and Debate program has a long history of championship speakers as well as a strong commitment to excellence in forensics competition. Fall 2013 proved an exciting time of successful transition for Speech and Debate, with the forensics squad facing some big changes: The team welcomed a new coach, Justin Eckstein, and raised membership to 22 debaters.

Beta Alpha Psi Musical Collection and Silent Auction

The Delta Rho chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) is hosting its first big fundraising event that will include a silent auction, musical performers from PLU including HERmonic and PLUtonic and Emmy Award winning Comedian John Keister. Proceeds will go toward future Delta Rho programs that will benefit both accounting and finance students attending PLU!
