Dr. Michel Pavel carries the traditional name of ChiXapkaid and is an enrolled member of the Skokomish Tribal Nation. He is an honored 2007 Ecotrust Indigenous Leadership Award finalist for his work as a Coast Salish traditional bearer, professor of Education Studies, traditional artist, researcher, author, environmental conservationist and community leader. Pavel has worked throughout his life to bridge the divide between Indigenous ways of knowing and knowledge systems of contemporary society.

The Northwest Horn Symposium 2012 final celebration concert. This concert will feature a massed horn ensemble that will be comprised of participants of the symposium.

April 3rd - Ung Symfoni from Bergen, Norway

Pacific Lutheran University is pleased to present the Ung Symfoni (Youth Symphony) of Bergen, Norway in concert on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at noon in Lagerquist Concert Hall. The orchestra will perform works from their tour repertoire, including the 100 Folk Tunes of Hardanger by Geirr Tveitt, Spring by Edvard Grieg, and Fanfare and Chorale by Egil Hovland as well as works by Leonard Bernstein and Carl Nielsen.

Stravinsky's Pulcinella Suite, Pergolesi's La Serva padrona (excerpts). KammerMusikere (Jeffrey Bell-Hanson, Conductor) and Early and Baroque Ensemble (Kathryn Habedank, Director). Featured soloists are Gina Gillie, natural horn and Barry Johnson, baritone.

April 15th - Organ Concert

Timothy Olson, guest organist, plays a program entitled "Everyone Dance! Dancing through the Ages," a program of works by Bach, Bovet, Hampton, Reger, and others.

March 23 - April 21 - Freud's Last Session
Taproot Theatre Company, Seattle
Matt portrays C.S. Lewis in a two-man play based on an imagined conversation between the father of modern psychology and a young "up-and-coming" Christian academic. This is Matt's second turn as a "dead theologian" at Taproot --last spring he played Dietrick Bonhoeffer in The Beams Are Creaking.

April 13-15 - Titanic the Musical
The 5th Avenue Theatre, Seattle
Jenny Shotwell pays Kate Mullins in 5th Avenue's upcoming production Titanic the Musical. Alumni involved with Choral Union will also be performing and rumor has it there will be other PLU alums on stage as well.

April 20-22, 26-29, May 4-6 - Spring Awakening
Balagan Theatre, Seattle
Spring Awakening is an 8-time Tony Award-winning show featuring music by Grammy Award-winning artist Duncan Sheik and book and lyrics by Steven Sater. Set in late 1890s Germany, Spring follows a group of teenagers as they discover and explore their minds, bodies, and passions in the journey through adolescence to adulthood.
