Diversity Center Anniversary Presentation & Past, Present and Future Panel
10:00 am, Diversity Center, Free
Learn about the changing face of Diversity at PLU. Celebrate milestones that helped in the creation of the Diversity Center as it now exists. Director Angie Hambrick will share about the Diversity Center at PLU of today, and offer a vision for what the future may hold. Following this presentation, at 10:30 am, learn more about the history of how the Diversity Center came to be, and what efforts the Diversity Center currently engages in around campus. A panel of alumni, faculty and staff will share their experiences of striving to make campus a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.

Cross Country Meet: PLU Invitational

The Women’s and Men’s Cross Country teams are hosting a home meet.  The 6k Women’s run will begin at 10:00 am.  The 8k Men’s run will begin at 11:00 am.  Alumni may register for free by emailing coach Heather Kreier at kreierhy@plu.edu.

Class Reps Brianne (McQuaig) Vertrees and Mike Mauss invite 2001 Alumni to join your classmates for a time to reconnect and have some pre-game fun and refreshments at Sparks Firehouse Deli, right next to Sparks Stadium!  It may have been 10 years since you have seen one another, but reminisce about days on campus, celebrating a PLU tradition – Homecoming!  The cost of your ticket will provide you lunch and admission to the game; you are responsible to purchase your own libations.

Class of 1971 Gathering at the Homecoming Football Tent

Fun for Lutes of All Ages! Homecoming Football Game and Tent

PLU Lutes take on the Menlo College Oaks in this year’s Homecoming football game. Stop by the Homecoming Tent with your VIP pass before and during the game for treats, opportunities to bolster your Lute Spirit and most importantly, connect with other Lutes! Activities include face painting, a balloon artist, bouncy house and craft activities for little Lutes. For our older Lutes, enjoy the photo booth, rootbeer keg, snacks, face painting and designated areas for your class to socialize, plus many giveaways and contests. Enjoy the fun!

University Gallery Exhibition

Tacoma painter Matt Johnson will be the featured artist during Homecoming. Johnson describes his work as “stylized realism with subtle social/political undertones.” Further, he derives inspiration from his conversations from close relations, family and friends. Johnson will be covering a sabbatical leave as a visiting professor in the department of Art and Design for the 2011-12 academic year.

Service Project at the Community Garden

Join current students and Sustainability Fellows to work in PLU’s Community Garden.  All tools and supplies will be provided; you just need to bring your hands and elbow grease!

Variety, Inspiration and Potential: Homecoming Celebration Banquet

6:00 pm, Hotel Murano, $50
We are rolling out the red carpet for a night unlike any other! A social hour and cocktail party in the Hotel Murano lobby will precede the VIP banquet in the ballroom where we will celebrate our common affinity to PLU. The evening will be filled with beauty – not just the glass and contemporary art of the Hotel Murano, but an array of alumni entertainment spanning the decades. Enjoy the company of old friends and make the acquaintance of new friends. Finally, we will honor the accomplishments of our Alumni Award Recipients.
