Nicholson Inducted into State Athletic
Trainers Hall of Fame

Pacific Lutheran University athletic trainer Gary Nicholson was
inducted into the Washington State Athletic Trainers Association
(WSATA) Hall of Fame this past weekend at the District 10 NATA conference
in Vancouver, Wash.
Nicholson, who has more than 40 years of service as an athletic
trainer, has been PLU's head athletic trainer since 1973. He is
the seventh individual to be inducted into the WSATA Hall of Fame.
A 1966 graduate of Albertson College of Idaho, Nicholson earned
his master’s degree from the University of Indiana in 1968.
He was an athletic trainer in pro baseball from 1965-82 with the
Chicago Cubs and the Seattle Mariners and is the only individual
to serve as trainer for both leagues (National in 1973 and American
in 1979) in the All-Star Game.
He received the National Service Award in 1997 from National Athletic
Trainers Association.
