  Geoff Loomis, Head Coach

Geoff Loomis starts his sixth year as head baseball coach at Pacific Lutheran University with a 118-82 win-loss record. He is the 11th head coach in the program's history and accomplished in 2007 what few others have, leading the Lutes to the Northwest Conference championship. It was the program's first conference title of any kind in 53 years.

In Loomis’ first five seasons at PLU, the Lutes reached the record books in several individual and team offensive categories. During their conference title run in 2007, they rewrote numerous team and individual records. Most significantly, Loomis led the 2007 Lutes to a 35-9 overall record, shattering the old PLU single-season record of 26 wins set in 1994.

In addition to coaching at Pacific Lutheran, Loomis coached the Aloha Knights for five seasons, leading that team to consecutive Pacific International League division titles, including a club record 54-14 mark in 2001. In 2004, the team won the National Baseball Congress World Series in Wichita, Kan. Loomis was named National Manager of the Year by the National Baseball Congress. He also was an assistant coach at George Fox University for five seasons (1996-2000).

Loomis played his collegiate baseball at the University of Portland, where he earned Pac-10 Player of the Year honors in 1992 and All-Pac-10 recognition in 1991 and 1992. He was selected in the 1992 free agent draft by Oakland and played in the Athletics' minor league system from 1992-94. He was named Oakland A's affiliate Minor League Player of the Year in 1993.

Following his playing career, Loomis returned to the University of Portland where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1994. He earned a master’s degree in teaching from Pacific University (Ore.) in 1997, and was a business teacher at David Douglas High School in Portland, Ore., prior to coming to Pacific Lutheran.

In addition to coaching the Pacific Lutheran baseball team, Loomis is also an assistant athletic director. His duties include game management at other PLU athletic events.

Loomis and his wife, Anna, have two daughters, Bryn and Addison, and a son, Cooper, and live in Puyallup. Anna is a 1993 graduate of Pacific Lutheran University.
