Men’s Varsity Four Highlights Spring
Season Opener
AMERICAN LAKE – The Pacific Lutheran lightweight men’s
varsity four boat won its race Saturday morning in a dual meet
against Seattle Pacific at American Lake.
The four-man team of Chad Hall, Justin Hull, Tyler Koehn, and
Sam Whedon finished the approximately 2000-meter course in a time
of 8:18, outdistancing the Falcons who crossed the line in 8:26.3.
“We knew their guys were bigger than us,” said Koehn,
“but we got out fast and never let up.” This was the
first victory over SPU for the men’s team in five years.
On the women’s side, SPU came out on top in all four of
the races. The Falcon varsity eight finished in 8:23.2, ahead
of the Lutes who came in at 8:46.7. The varsity four from SPU
clocked 9:44 while PLU crossed the line at 9:59. The novice eight
saw SPU edge PLU 8:26.0 to 8:29.6. In the junior varsity four
the Falcons topped the Lutes, 10:27 to 11:08.
The Lutes are back in action on March 29 when they compete against
Puget Sound at the Daffodil Cup on American Lake.
