CREW: Lutes Enter 21 Boats in NCRC Championships

THIS WEEKEND: Pacific Lutheran has a total of 21 boats entered at the NCRC Championships this Saturday on Vancouver Lake in Vancouver, Wash. The event gets underway at 8 a.m.

WOMEN’S TEAM HAS A LONG DAY AHEAD OF IT: The women’s team has 13 races between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The first two races consist of varsity 8s, followed by the much-practiced novice 4s. Then PLU again has varsity races in the 4s and pairs. The next race is the novice 8s and 4, who should have a good showing. At 12:30, PLU starts the lightweight events with the varsity 4, with the novice lightweight 4 next on the water. An hour later, the varsity 4s, followed by the novice 8s, represent PLU. In conclusion to the day, there is a race called the coxswains race where all of the coxswains will be rowing.

MEN’S BOATS ON THE WATER: For the first time this season, Pacific Lutheran men’s crew is rowing a varsity 8 race. They will be competing at 8:30 a.m. Their next race takes off at 9:15 a.m. with the novice 4, followed by the JV 4. The next race is the pair, followed by the varsity 4, which begins at 1:30 p.m.

LOOKING TOWARD THE FUTURE: PLU’s next regatta will be Saturday, April 26, when the Lutes host rival Puget Sound in the Meyer Lamberth Cup on American Lake. The final race of the season will be on May 3rd in Sacramento, California.
