Men’s Novice 8 Wins at Charlie
Brown Regatta
Results
PORTLAND, Ore. – The Pacific Lutheran men’s novice
8 boat won its race by 37 seconds to lead the PLU effort at the
Charlie Brown Regatta held Saturday on the Willamette River.
The victorious Lutes completed the 4700-meter course in a time
of 18:49, while Lewis & Clark and Puget Sound tied for second
in identical 19:26 times. The PLU men’s novice competitors
are coxswain Adam Hoagland, Sam Whedon, Andy Osborn, Alex Burch,
Steven Rystrom, Dan Case, Axel Moestve, Petter Ege and Joe Natwick.
The rest of the PLU performances looked like this: men’s
varsity 8, third in a three-team race in a time of 17:33 (UPS
first in 16:21); women’s varsity 8, fourth in a six-team
race in a time of 19:16 (Lewis & Clark first in 18:21); and
the women’s novice 8, fifth in a nine-team race in a time
of 22:27 (Willamette first in 19:56). The PLU women’s varsity
8 recorded an exhibition time of 20:56.
The Charlie Brown Regatta is PLU’s only fall season competition.
