Parker Scores Career-High 32 Points in
George Fox Win
TACOMA, Wash. – Chris Parker scored a career-high 32 points
to lead the visiting George Fox Bruins to a 77-68 Northwest Conference
men’s basketball victory over Pacific Lutheran on Friday night
in Olson Auditorium.
George Fox is now 4-3 in Northwest Conference play and 8-7 overall.
With the loss, Pacific Lutheran drops to 3-4 in the NWC and to 6-8
overall.
Parker, a 6-6 senior from Aloha, Ore., made 12-of-17 shots from
the field and 8-of-10 from the foul line to lead the Bruins to the
victory. Point guard Brent Satern chipped in with 17 points and
Brady Sturtz added 13 for the Bruins, who shot 52 percent from the
field and 80 percent (24-of-30) from the foul stripe.
Junior wing Jared
Brandeberry scored 19 points and Kurt
Oliver added 11 for the Lutes. Pacific Lutheran shot
just 38 percent from the field for the game.
The Lutes took their biggest lead of the game, 28-21, on a three-point
field goal by Josh Dressler with 4:33 remaining in the first half.
The Bruins closed out the half with a 12-3 run, with Sturtz scoring
five of the points and adding an assist.
The Bruins maintained their lead through most of the second period,
though Pacific Lutheran did take a 47-45 advantage on Scott
MaDaniels’ layup with 13:44 to play in the game.
The Bruins responded with the next eight points, four by Sturtz,
to take a 53-47 lead, and they stayed in front the rest of the game.
Parker scored 20 of his points in the second half.
Pacific Lutheran returns to action tomorrow at 8 p.m. when it hosts
the Pacific Boxers in Olson Auditorium. George Fox is on the road
again, facing Lewis & Clark in Portland.
