OSHKOSH, Wis. – Taylor Hacker advanced to the finals of the
women's hammer throw but finished a non-scoring ninth during Friday's
second day of the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships
hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Hacker, a junior from Gig Harbor, was in eighth place going into
the finals after throwing the hammer 165-4, but she fouled on all
of her attempts in the finals. One other competitor passed her in
the finals. Still, it was a successful meet for Hacker, who made
the 2007 national meet but didn't advance to the final round.
Hacker's junior teammate, Faven Araya, will compete in the finals
of the women's 400-meter hurdles on Saturday afternoon. Araya recorded
a personal best 1:01.09 in Thursday's preliminary round. She goes
into the finals with the third fastest qualifying time.
