Lutes Get Two Wins on First
Day of Pacific Coast Classic

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Pacific Lutheran improved its
volleyball season record to 4-2 with a pair of victories in Friday's
first day of action at the Pacific Coast Classic hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
Colleges.
The Lutes beat nearby Pomona-Pitzer College, 25-13,
25-21, 17-25, 25-16, in their opening match and came back shortly
thereafter to defeat Chapman 23-25, 27-25, 25-17, 25-17.
Sophomore setter Sarah Beaver had 38 assists against
Pomona-Pitzer and 48 more against Chapman. Junior middle blocker
Kelcy Joynt led the Lutes with 13 kills in their opener, while
sophomore outside hitter Beth Hanna collected 21 kills in the
second match.
The Lutes finish play in the Pacific Coast Classic
on Saturday, playing tournament host CMS at 10 a.m. and UC Santa
Cruz at 12:15 p.m.
