Gerry Myers

Myers

Gerry Myers received his Master's Degree in Accounting from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1975. After a brief stint in academic administration, he attended the University of Iowa, where he earned a PhD in Business Administration in 1984.

Gerry has been on the PLU faculty since 1982. He teaches managerial accounting, cost accounting and accounting information systems. Since his arrival here at PLU, Gerry has worked aggressively to promote the use of computers and spreadsheet technology in managerial and cost accounting classes. He has also been a vocal advocate of greater use of the Web as a tool for both instructors and students. Professor Myers' research interests focus on cases about small businesses. He is currently chair of the faculty committee on Admission and Retention of Students.

Professor Myers does have a life outside PLU. He keeps busy remodeling a 94-year-old house. Gerry is an amateur meteorologist and routinely tracks weather conditions across the United States. His home weather station is linked to a desktop computer where he monitors local conditions as well as nationwide real time weather radar. Gerry and his wife, Martha, have two daughters; they live in Renton, Washington.
