Why Do We Go?

The Alternative Spring Break Trip is an opportunity to work with your peers on a short-term immersion experience in a community.  The trips themselves provide you the chance to participate in direct service, reflection, and learning.

As you work with each other, you will learn from each other and about the communities in which you are working.  You will also meet residents from those communities and hear their stories. As we learn from them, we will also learn about social justice and biblical perspectives of service.

For more information on Alternative Spring Trips, please email the Campus Ministry Office at cmin@plu.edu.

Where Do We Go?

Each year, we choose a destination where we can both learn and serve. In the past several years, we have visited New Orleans, Holden Village, and Antigua, Guatemala. Most recently, students visited Holden Village. While there, they worked together to prepare the village for their busy summer months.

Opportunities like these would be hard for most students to afford if it weren't for the support of outside donors. If you are interested in making a tax-deductible donation for an Alternative Spring Break Trip, you can visit our secure site here. We appreciate the support!
