Ruthie Kovanen hails from the great state of Michigan, from a teeny town in the Northwoods. She is double-majoring in Women's and Gender Studies and Anthropology and minoring in Hispanic Studies. Outside of the classroom Ruthie enjoys spending her time at PLU going to events and lectures, hanging out at the Women's Center, and spending time with her goofy and wonderful friends. During the 2013-2014 academic year, Ruthie will be the editor for PLU's social justice magazine The Matrix and the communications specialist for the Women's Center. Ruthie would love to travel to Finland because she thinks Finland is neat. Ruthie's most memorable journey was when she roadtripped across the U.S. with her dad on her way to PLU for the first time. Together they had many adventures, like that one time when the car broke down two hours into the trip... Ruthie is excited to serve on the UCong Council this year! Ruthie finds it odd to write in the third person.
