Spanish for Health Care Providers

Saturdays, April 18 & May 2, 2015, 8:00am – 3:30pm

You, the healthcare provider, are the client’s partner in health care. You must elicit the client’s symptoms, the client’s concerns, and the client’s health history. After assuring the client, you must mutually plan the care and motivate the client to move toward mutually established goals. You need a common language in order to accomplish these goals. This class is designed to give the non-Spanish speaker the key phrases and words to allow you to provide care for Spanish speaking clients.
Objectives Include:

  2. Describe body parts terms
  3. Learn how to express discomfort or pain
  4. Discuss common ailments
  5. Describe length of symptoms
  6. Describe places in hospital and personnel
  7. Discuss physical descriptions
  8. Discuss family
  9. Discuss basic foods, beverage and nutrition
  10. Learn how to tell time in Spanish and discuss making appointments
  11. Discuss contagious diseases
  12. Discuss taking a clinical history
  13. Describe organs
  14. Describe accidents and emergencies
  15. Describe drug and alcohol terms and treatment
  16. Discuss pregnancy, maternity and pediatric terms
  17. Discuss individual questions related to professional field
