Choir of the West enjoys great success at the 2011 Harmonie Festival
The Pacific Lutheran University Choir of the West participated in its first world choral competition in July of 2011, singing in three different categories at the Harmonie Festival, held in Lindenholzhausen, Germany. The festival is recognized as one of the world’s finest choral events, with a panel of highly respected judges. The 2011 Harmonie Festival featured nearly 200 choirs, folk ensembles and dance ensembles from 47 countries. The Choir of the West competed in the large mixed choir division, which was comprised of 17 ensembles from 9 countries. Choir of the West placed second in this division, winning a Gold certificate from the judges. The men from the Choir of the West competed as a male chamber choir, tying for first place in their division and winning a Gold certificate. The Choir of the West women competed as a female chamber choir, and received a Silver certificate with fourth place in their division.
Participation at the Harmonie Festival was the highlight of the Choir of the West’s 2011 European Tour. The choir looks forward to competing at other world choral events in the future.
