Biography
Peter Ehrenhaus (Ph.D., U of Minnesota) is Professor of Communication. Prior to joining the faculty at PLU in 1998, he taught and conducted research at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Rutgers University (NJ), and Portland State University. Among the courses that Peter teaches are Gender & Communication, Intercultural Communication, Media & Cultural Criticism, Persuasion, and Visual Culture. Central to all of these courses is a concern with the rhetorical construction of the “politics of everyday life” through mass mediated forms and forums, and through non-mediated human communicative interaction. Peter’s research interests concern the rhetorical construction of public memory and national identity, particularly regarding America’s Vietnam experience and the nation’s history of white-on-black race violence. For pleasure, he likes to garden, watch old movies, sea kayak, and discover great wines at “undiscovered” prices.
