Doreen Marchionni (Ph.D ’09, Missouri School of Journalism) is a Pacific Northwest native specializing in new-media research/consulting and journalism-as-a-conversation. She is a 17-year veteran of newspapers, primarily as a manager and most recently as an assistant metro editor at The Seattle Times. She received her master’s in American Studies from Columbia University (ethnic studies/immigration) and explicated the concept of conversational journalism in a pair of online news experiments for her dissertation. She’s taught journalism principles and convergence/newswriting courses, among others, in recent years. Her research passion: journalist-audience relations via social media and credibility in new-media contexts.
