Student Conduct

Discipline Process

The following process outlines the general steps a student can expect when involved in the Student Conduct System.  Please refer to the Student Conduct Procedures for details that may pertain to your individual case.

Student Behavior Concerns

  1. Incident Report submitted to Student Conduct
  2. The Associate Director for Student Conduct reviews IR, investigates if needed, and determines type of review
  3. Types of Review:
    a.    Student Acceptance of Responsibility (first time minor violations)
    b.    Administrative Hearing (1-2 administrative Hearing Officers)
    c.    Community Review Board (student panel)
    d.    University Review Board (panel of students, administrators, and faculty)
  4. Written Notification of Review sent to student with all documents pertaining to the incident (Incident Report, witness statements, etc.)
  5. Review Meeting
  6. Written Decision sent to student (includes decision, rationale for decision, sanctions if applicable, and opportunity to request appeal)
  7. Sanctions Completed by student (if sanction is not completed by due date a “hold” will be placed on your student account preventing you from adding or dropping courses or viewing grades)

Academic Dishonesty Concerns

The following process outlines the general steps a student can expect when involved in an Academic Integrity case.  Please refer to the Student Conduct Procedures for details that may pertain to your individual case.

  1. When an instructor suspects academic dishonesty, he/she may either:  a) meet informally with the student to discuss the incident and resolve the matter, b) meet with the student in the presence of a witness to discuss the incident and resolve the matter, c) refer the incident to the Campus Life Committee to be heard by an Academic Dishonesty Hearing Panel (ADHP) for resolution.  An ADHP will be used when there is a prior academic dishonesty violation on the student’s record or when the suspected academic dishonesty includes flagrant behavior.
  2. If the instructor chooses options a. or b. above and the student disagrees with the resolution made by the instructor, the student may request a formal hearing by an ADHP.
  3. If and ADHP is called, the student will receive written notification of the ADHP meeting with all documents pertaining to the incident.
  4. Review Meeting
  5. Written Decision sent to student (includes decision, rationale for decision, sanctions if applicable, and opportunity to request appeal).
