Notes From Lee
Greetings from the campus of Pacific Lutheran University!
For some reason the word "new" seems to be in my mind these days.
I know there are just two weeks left of the "old" 2007-2008 academic year.
Students are working on individual projects, Senior capstone
presentations, writing papers, preparing for exams, Senior recitals,
finishing up on class requirements and spending lots of time studying for
all of the above mentioned tasks.
While at the same time classes for the "new" Fall Semester have been
registered for, roommates have been connected with for on-campus housing
or off-campus housing, applications have been made for summer jobs, trips
have been scheduled for "time off" or to do those summer things that
include: family events, traveling, going to Fall Semester sites for
school, being with friends or looking at no plans in particular!
Webster's Dictionary defines "new", in part, as: lately made, invented,
discovered: recently heard of, or experienced for the first time:
different, changed.
Talk about "new"...In the past few months one of my nieces had a baby son
born and my Assistant had a baby daughter born. A couple who are
longtime PLU friends had a granddaughter born to their son and
daughter-in-law and a couple who I officiated at their wedding had a
baby daughter born. The NWWA Bishop's family welcomed a baby
grandson, too! That's "new" life among many families!
I am in the process of reading newsletters from congregations who are
Partner Congregations with PLU and a few other congregations. I read
about "new" ministries, events, people, pastors, buildings, classes,
projects, plans, and happenings in congregations.
As we are near to the celebration of Pentecost, I pray that the "new"
things; relationships, people, tasks, insights, directions, awareness and
responsibilities will be blessed by the God who creates, redeems and
supports us within our daily lives as people of God!
The Lord be with you,
Lee
DAY OF PENTECOST
Prayer of the Day: O God, on this day you open the hearts of your faithful people by sending into us your Holy Spirit. Direct us by the light of that Spirit, that we may have a right judgment in all things and rejoice at all times in your peace, through Jesus Christ, your Son and our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
REMEMBER TO PUT IN YOUR CALENDAR - MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 8TH - PLU CORPORATION MEETING!
