WEB DEVELOPER

KPLU, Seattle Bureau

Part-time (20 hours per week)

Assists Multimedia Manager with back-end web development and supports the continued development of external websites. Leverage various technologies in developing in-house web applications with the cooperation of the KPLU digital team. Assist as needed in the areas of social media, user support, podcasts and mobile, as well as multimedia implementation. This position works out of KPLU’s Seattle Bureau. Reports to the Multimedia Manager.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

-Assist with delivery and maintenance of all public-facing webpages.
-Maintain and enhance existing web applications and integrate internal systems.
-Perform complete testing of web applications, engaging users as necessary.
-Support performance and usage by generating and analyzing reports such as web and streaming metrics.
-Troubleshoot technical issues with web, mobile, streaming, and associated platforms and respond to user questions and concerns.
-Assist in digital production including graphics, photos, and video.
-Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-Strong proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
-Experience developing and maintaining websites using WordPress.
-Experience with relational databases, especially MySQL
-Understanding of mobile technology, uses, best practices, and trends.
-Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
-Ability to interact effectively with various people and departments in collaborative settings.
-Creative thinker with a clear understanding of visual design.
-Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and precision in work.
-Ability to troubleshoot issues quickly and accurately.

Required Qualifications:

-2 years of web development experience. Related education can substitute for experience.
-Experience working with content management systems and open source CMS such as WordPress and Drupal.
-Experience working with web standards, accessibility and browser compatibility.
-Experience creating/integrating multimedia (video, audio, animation) into various new media platforms.
-High School Diploma/GED.
-Finalist candidate must satisfactorily complete pre-employment background check.
