The Diversity Center

Supporting the DCenter

The dCenter strives to promote cultural, educational, and social activities for our students.  However, we don’t stop at race and ethnicity.  The dCenter is committed to celebrating our religious, sexual orientation, gender, socio-economic status, physical ability, age, geographic location, appearance, etc diversity that each and everyone of us possess.  Here are a couple of ways that you as a faculty memberr can support our work:

Facilitate an Appetizers and Engaging Talk Session

One of most favorite programs, this hour-long conversation hour gives you the chance to present a topic that is important to you in an informal manner to eager ears.  Appetizers are scheduled monthly and the dAdvocates in charge of planning the events will be willing to work with you to make your interaction most effective.

Encourage your students to attend events sponsored by the dCenter

Think about ways that you can encourage the students in your class to access diversity in a more personal way.  Perhaps an event like Taste of Faith will enrich your students' understanding of that topic on Luther you were talking about last week.

Promote the dCenter to your students and encourage them to stop by for a visit

We love the free advertising and would love to host your class inside the dCenter.  Let us know how we can help you get better access to our facilities.

Attend events sponsored by the dCenter

One of the best ways for you to be involved is to attend our events.  Your attendance offers our events a kind of niche-credability gained only by faculty involvement.  It tells students that you find what we're doing to be important for someone of your perspective and learnedness.
