Queer Ally Network
Queer Ally Network is a program sponsored by The Diversity Center and The Women’s Center. The Queer Ally Network is a 3 hour training session that provides participants with an introduction to “Queer Terminology”, identity formation models, and the tools needed to grow into an ally.
Sponsored by The Diversity Center and The Women’s Center, with initial funding by The Pierce County Pride Foundation, PLU’s Queer Ally Network (QAN) seeks to:
- Increase LGBT/Queer community member’s feelings of importance and safety at PLU
- Strengthen positive identities for Queer individuals and allies
- Increase visible presence of PLU allies to help foster a safe and affirming community
Trainings are provided for students, faculty, and staff once per semester. Each participate who completes the training will receive
A “Queer Ally Network” Certificate
- Display this certificate wherever you like – your office door, in your res hall room
An invitation to join the QAN group on MyLuteLife
- The QAN group allows individuals to share resources, keep up on current events effecting the Queer community, and support one another as social justice allies
The opportunity to enhance own knowledge, skills, and advocacy
- The QAN allows individuals to deepen their understanding about gender and sexuality identity development models, “Queer terminology”, the stages of the coming out process, the interconnectedness of power, privilege, and oppression, and what it means to be an ally
