Supporting Pacific Lutheran University
As an independent, non-profit university, PLU has two primary sources of revenue - tuition and gift support. In order to keep tuition at a level that enables the university to serve as broad a range of students as possible, PLU relies on the generous support of alumni, friends, corporations and foundations.
The Office of Development works to raise charitable contributions in support of the mission of Pacific Lutheran University. Contributions are made in a variety of ways and used to enhance the programs and services that make a PLU education distinctive.
Q Club
Q Club is the annual giving program at Pacific Lutheran University. Funds given to Q Club are used during the year in which they are received to meet current needs, primarily scholarship support, for current students. Q Club is the cornerstone of fundraising at Pacific Lutheran University and sustains PLU's tradition of academic distinction.
Endowment
PLU relies on its endowment to provide support in perpetuity for a host of needs, including financial aid, research and faculty development. The principle of the endowment is never spent; only interest income is used for spending needs.
Gift Planning
These are tax-advantaged ways to support the university both now and in the future. Planned gifts include provisions made in donors' wills, gift annuities and the establishment of various trust vehicles. Often planned gifts are used to establish future named endowment funds.
