Meal Plans 2013-2014

Meal plans each include a set amount of declining balance Dining Dollars to use during breakfast and lunch not only in The Commons, but throughout campus. All of our campus restaurants accept declining balance Dining Dollars, including Hauge Espresso, Kelley Cafe, Tahoma Market & Cafe and The Old Main Market.

Remember, the bigger the plan, the greater the value—Meal Plan A gives you more Dining Dollars and more guest meals than Meal Plans B, C and D. Meal Plans A-D include unlimited all-you-care-to-eat meals (Sunday brunch & Sunday–Friday dinners) for each week of all three terms, Meal Plan F is Dining Dollars only while Meal Plan E includes 50 one-admittance AYCTE meals.

Meal Plan Requirement

With the exception of Kreidler and South Hall residents, students with an active housing assignment must enroll in one of the following four meal plans: A, B, C or D.

Kreidler Hall residents have the additional options of Meal Plan E and F.

South Hall residents are not required to purchase a meal plan, but are encouraged to participate—a great choice would be Meal Plan E with 50 one-admittance AYCTE meals. South Hall residents may also wish to purchase Dining Dollars and take advantage of their on-campus food purchases having no sales tax.

Meal Plan Descriptions

Plan A

This plan is intended for the student that will spend the majority of their time on campus. It is great for students who eat three meals a day, like to snack and maybe eat a big breakfast. Includes Guest Meals, Dining Dollars and unlimited AYCTE meals.

Plan B

This plan is designed for the student who eats most of their meals on campus. This is the default plan for students with a housing assignment other than South Hall, you will be enrolled in this plan if you do not choose to opt into one of the other plans. Includes Guest Meals, Dining Dollars and unlimited AYCTE meals.

Plan C

This plan is sufficient for many students who might be termed "middle of the road" eaters. Someone who likes to come in for unlimited all-you-care-to-eat meals, and doesn't eat every breakfast and lunch on campus. Includes Guest Meals, Dining Dollars and unlimited AYCTE meals.

Plan D

This plan is designed for the light eater who may eat smaller quantities or who may skip a meal or two here and there. Includes Dining Dollars and unlimited AYCTE meals.

Plan E

This is a flexible new plan designed for students residing in Kreidler, South Hall or off-campus. Students meeting those requirements may choose this plan with 50 one-admittance AYCTE meals and $325 Dining Dollars. Students may also use the one-admittance AYCTE meals when hosting a guest. The 50 one-admittance AYCTE meals will expire at the end of each semester.

Plan F

This is the lowest minimum required meal plan available to Kreidler residents. This plan contains only Dining Dollars, no all-you-care-to-eat meal periods are included. Dining Dollars may be also be used to purchase a meal during the AYCTE meal periods.

All-You-Care-To-Eat

The seven all-you-care-to-eat meals are:

  • Sunday Brunch
  • Sunday-Friday dinners

Plans A-D include unlimited access AYCTE meals for each week of all three terms.
Plan E includes 50 one admittance AYCTE meals for Spring & Fall terms.
Plan F does not include any AYCTE meals.

Unlimited access means that you can enter The Commons as many times as you'd like during each period (Meal Plans A-D).

During all-you-care-to-eat meal periods, all food selected in the dining unit must be consumed prior to leaving the dining room. Any removal of food from the dining room during these periods will be referred to the Student Conduct System.

     Guests

The AYCTE meal portion of your meal plan is for your own use only. To host a guest for an AYCTE meal, you may use your included guest meals or pay with Dining Dollars, LuteBuck$, cash or credit card. Meal Plans A, B and C come with a set amount of Guest Meals for each term. If you have Meal Plan E, you may host a guest by using the one-admittance AYCTE meals.

Dining Dollars

Dining Dollars may be used to only purchase food, all food purchases made with Dining Dollars are tax-free. Your Dining Dollars may be used during all a la carte meals, to purchase an AYCTE meal for guests, and at all campus restaurant locations:

•   The Commons

•   Old Main Market

•   Kelley Café

•   Tahoma Market & Café

•   Hauge Espresso

During a la carte meals, items are priced individually so you are only charged for those items you select.

A la carte meal periods (use Dining Dollars) are:

        • Monday-Saturday breakfast
        • Monday-Saturday lunch
        • Saturday dinner

Don’t worry about losing Dining Dollars during the academic year because they carry over from term to term and do not expire until the last day of the spring term. Visit the Dining Dollars page to learn more about them.

LuteBuck$

All Dining Services locations also accept LuteBuck$, so if you run out of Dining Dollars—no problem! Your LuteCard is your campus debit card, so deposit money to your LuteBuck$ account and keep the convenience of using your card. LuteBuck$ can be added in person or over the phone at the Concierge. You won't lose LuteBuck$—they stay on your account as long as you're in school, but you can't withdraw them until you officially leave the university.
