Uploading an unlisted File Type

There may be situations where the specific file type you wish to upload is not readily apparent or a specific asset type does not exist within Cascade. In these situations we recommend using the Default File asset which can be created by going to New>>Default>>File. Just remember to include the file extension in the System Name when naming the asset.

* Note: When uploading any file type (image, document, csv) please be sure to maintain the file type extension in the system name field (banner-image.jpg, monthly-report.pdf, faculty-list.csv)

Upload Limits

To prevent issues with certain files and manage space on Cascade there is a limit to the size of the files uploaded. A majority of files hosted on Cascade will be documents and images.

Naming Restrictions

When you upload a file you are given the option to give that file a unique name within Cascade. You may use any letters or numbers (A-Z,a-z,0-9) and several special characters such as: . , _ , and - .

Invalid characters include but are not limited to: /, !, ?, <, >, $, %, *, &, [, ], (, ), |, \, ‘, #, @, “, :, ;, =, +.

When a file is submitted to Cascade for uploading the System Name will be automatically checked for validity. If any errors occur you will be notified and asked to correct them.
