This class will explore and connect with educational resources in the community such as museums, environmental organizations, and cultural centers. Each day, class will meet at a different venue to actively learn about history, art, and science; to become familiar with object based learning, visual thinking skills, teaching trunks, and place based learning; and then collaborate to develop practical classroom applications connected to the Common Core.
Participants will reach out to a heritage, art, or environmental group in their local school community to develop ideas for future partnerships.

Explore object based learning, service learning, teaching trunks, and place based learning
Collaborate to develop lessons connected to Common Core Standards
Develop a plan for partnership with a local community resource
Take away ideas, materials, lesson plans, and connections
