Program Options

Below are the 3 program options you have to choose from:

Full Year Program:  This comprehensive 1-year (two semester) option is best for ProCert candidates who desire extensive support. This program will help you complete your Professional Growth Needs Assessment.  You will be guided in: goal setting based upon the Needs Assessment, writing Entries 1,2, 3, and capturing quality evidence of practice. Candidates also focus on strong descriptive, reflective, and analytical writing for portfolio entries.

Semester Entry:  This 1-semester option is best for ProCert candidates who have completed the Professional Growth Needs Assessment and desire support writing portfolio entries and capturing quality evidence of practice. This option's focus will be goal setting based upon the Needs Assessment and writing Entries 1, 2, and 3.

Semester Entry Feedback/Resubmission Feedback:  This 1-semester option is best for ProCert candidates who have completed or nearly completed their entries. Facilitators will read each of the three entries one time and provide helpful, written feedback. Resubmission candidates may choose to have any one entry read and reviewed up to three times.



Payment Agreement

The student understands that the tuition and fees for the semester are due and payable in full at the time of the student's registration unless the student has arranged a payment plan that has been approved by the University. Student further agrees to pay all other charges which student incurs while attending the University. Failure to pay when due all University bills shall release the University of any obligation to continue to provide the applicable education benefits and services, including, but not limited to, grade reports, transcripts of records, diplomas, registration or statements of honorable dismissal. The student shall also be denied admittance to classes and the use of university facilities in the event of default or if you are not registered. Accounts 60 days delinquent may be turned over to a third-party collection agency. Any additional collections costs and/or attorney fees may be added to the account. This agreement shall be construed and governed by the laws of the State of Washington.


Registration Policy

Registration Policy: Registrations must be submitted the Friday before the start of the program. Registrations submitted after then will be charged a $100.00 late registration fee. Registrations will not be accepted after the first week of the program.

Withdrawal Policy: Notification of withdrawal from the ProCert Preparation Program must occur in writing via email to profdev@plu.edu prior to 3rd class meeting. There will be a $100.00 late registration change fee applied, but program fees are refundable. Withdrawal from the ProCert Preparation Program after the 3rd class meeting will not be charged a $100.00 late registration change fee, but the program fees are NON-REFUNDABLE and a W grade will apply.

Per University policy, in the event of low enrollment, a class may be canceled.  If this is necessary we will contact each applicant to discuss their options. 


Understanding of ProTeach

I understand that it is my responsibility to register with ProTeach and pay the required fees. I also understand that I am solely responsible for the successful completion of the ProCert Preparation Program and subsequent submission of entries for assessment by ProTeach. It is my responsibility to adhere to all deadlines. My achievement of passing grade(s) and ultimately achieving a Professional Teaching Certificate rests solely with me and with my ability to provide the assessor [ProTeach] credible evidence of “at standard” practice at the Professional Certification level as per ProTeach portfolio guidelines. Pacific Lutheran University cannot guarantee award of the Professional Certificate through the ProTeach assessment system.


Completing the Application Process

In order to complete the application process you must submit the following:

- Copy of your Current Washington State Teaching Certificate

- College Transcripts (official or unofficial)

- $40.00 Application Fee (non-refundable; checks or money orders made payable to PLU)
