Lauren hails from Bainbridge Island, WA where she spent her childhood playing sports, participating in academic activities and engaging in the community through the American Legion. A native to Washington, Lauren enjoys the outdoors with her husband, partaking in hiking, camping, four-wheeling, fishing and swimming when weather permits.
Finding a passion in Higher Education as an undergraduate student, Lauren has committed herself to a lifelong pursuit of learning, reflection, and creating opportunities for others to achieve their goals. Participating extensively in research, clubs, honor societies and committees, Lauren's depth and commitment to Higher Education has been extensive throughout her adult life. In recent years, the discovery of working with the K-12 education community has proven to be particularly rewarding for her, as she believes teachers are the key to developing leaders and productive citizens.
An active reader, much of her free time is spent reading novels, poetry, doctoral textbooks or children's books to her young daughters. Lauren also enjoys cooking, gardening, and trying new restaurants.
When asked what helps guide her life, Lauren shares her favorite quote: "When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say. ' I used everything you gave me'" - Erma Bombeck
