Education students teach internationally

Nine education students began their student teaching experience at Namibian primary schools, and after six weeks, returned to campus to complete it at Tacoma schools.

The Department of Instructional Development and Leadership (IDL) offers undergraduate, post-baccalaureate and graduate programs of study leading to a residency teaching certificate with endorsements in elementary education, middle level content areas, secondary education, and special education.

Candidates who successfully complete a program of professional studies in the department, who meet all related academic requirements and who meet all state requirements will be recommended by the department for a Washington State Residency Teaching Certificate.

The Assistant Director of Admission and Advising along with program coordinators are happy to meet with candidates to discuss program options and endorsement requirements.
