About the artist:

Soul singer CHOKLATE has released two albums, both of which have received rave reviews.  Her most recent self-titled release, CHOKLATE was hailed by Chales Mudede, The Seattle Stranger Music Columnist as “the first important, and truly organic R&B record to come out of Seattle in a very long time.”  Find out more about CHOKLATE  at www.choklatemusic.com

Information Fair:

The PLU Office of Admission, Office of Financial Aid and a select sampling of academic program representatives will share information about the admission process, paying for college and student life experiences. We will also welcome a few of our community partners who have college readiness program information to share. The following organizations will be represented:

The COLLEGE SUCCESS FOUNDATION will be on site to showcase their programs including:

The Achiever Scholarship Program is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and is designed in part to identify and reduce financial barriers to college for talented, low-income students who have overcome difficult circumstances and who are motivated to attend college; and to provide mentoring to ensure academic support is available to students once they are enrolled in college. The HERO Initiative (Higher Education Readiness Opportunity) is designed to increase college readiness for under-represented youth. HERO staff work with eighth, ninth, and 10th grade students, in the academic middle – B and C students – who have the desire to go to college and the willingness to work hard, but are falling short of their potential.

NORTHWEST DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS sends students to college through local scholarship programs in communities throughout the state. More than 13,000 students have received scholarships in Washington since 1987, including 2,491 recipients last year.

NORTHWEST LEADERSHIP FOUNDATION representatives will be on site to share information about their program called Act Six. It is a Christian leadership development and scholarship program that recruits and selects diverse, multicultural cadres of talented urban student leaders, provides intensive leadership development training, and sends the teams to Whitworth College for four years of fully funded education.
