Fall Fitness

PLU offers fitness classes for staff and faculty during each term throughout the year.

When: Mondays, 12:15-12:45pm
           September 16 - December 9

Description: Staff, administrators, and faculty are invited to take a quick pause in your work day to focus on building strength, flexibility, and balance through hatha (physical practice) yoga. You will learn various asanas or poses individually and then combine them in a flow. At the end of the half hour, you will feel invigorated and refreshed to go back to work. Please bring a yoga mat and a strap/belt.

Where: Columbia Center, except October 14 which will be in Memorial Gym

When: Mondays, 5:15-6:00pm
           September 16 - December 9

Description: Fit Club will combine cardio and strength exercises for a total body workout including running, jumping, lunges, squats, and weights. All exercises adjust to your fitness level. Please bring your PLU ID card and a water bottle.

When: Tuesdays, 12:15-12:45pm
           September 17 - December 10, except September 24

Description: Faculty, staff, and administrators are invited to join us for aerobic calorie burning walk classes conducted using the indoor walking techniques. Exciting, motivating music designed for pace and speed, along with four basic steps and strength training combos make this calorie torching, fat burning, stress releasing group fitness aerobic walk fun and suitable for all Walks of Life! Please wear comfortable clothes and fitness shoes, bring a water bottle and towel.

When: Wednesdays, 5:15-6:00pm
           September 18 - December 4, except November 27

Description: Need to spice up your exercise regiment?  Come break a sweat in the water!  Water Aerobics is easy on the joints, while building muscular endurance, increasing flexibility, and improving your heart.  No swimming ability is required.

Instructor: Kina Ackerman, PLU Student

Where: Pool

When: Thursdays, 12:15-12:45pm
           September 19 - December 12; except October 17, November 14 and 28

Description: Kettlebells (those funny looking cannonballs with handles) allow us to build strength through muscle integration (rather than isolation). Kettlebell exercises recruit multiple muscle groups to work in unison. We will strengthen the whole body with emphasis on your core and back. We will use the Kettlebells in the Fitness Center (first-come, first-serve; 12 available) and you are welcome to bring your own (10lbs or more) if you'd like! Please bring your PLU ID card.
