"Being a graduate student requires that I engage in a rigorous schedule of reading and writing—pushing my skills as a poet and as a critical thinker.
Additionally, serving as a teaching assistant asks that I take on a leadership role in the classroom as I encourage students to develop their creative writing abilities.
Working in camaraderie with other members of the program is also crucial as we help one another strengthen our writing.
"My time at PLU has been a crucial part of preparing me for graduate school and teaching. My professors equipped me with the tools to navigate a highly academic environment and motivated me to find great joy in the classroom. The interdisciplinary nature of many of my courses urged me to develop creatively and push the boundaries of my work."
