Are you unsure of what part you play or what expected of you as a faculty sponsor?
The Academic Internships Office is here to support you in your work with student interns. Please let us know if there is any way in which we can be an asset to you and support your work with students. Email intern@plu.edu or call 253-535-7324.
The Internship Office helps to fulfill the university’s Integrated Learning Objectives.
An Academic Internship is a professionally related work experience grounded in academic application and learning objectives. It is a course designed to integrate classroom study with planned, supervised, and evaluated work experience that links the academic program with the workplace and students’ career goals and interests. The experience should strengthen our students’ professional, social, and personal growth.
We use courses through the Academic Internship Office when the credits for the internship are not registered through an academic department. Both the Academic Internship Office and academic department internships require high quality workplace responsibilities, offer academic credit, and require scholarly documentation of learning.
