Port of Tacoma
Port of Tacoma is an independent seaport located right here in PLU's backyard. The port was created by a vote of Pierce County citizens in 1918, and today is one of the largest container ports in North America and a major hub for autos, bulk, breakbulk and heavy-lift cargoes. More than 43,000 jobs in Pierce County and 113,000 in Washington state are connected to Port activities.
