  • Develop professional communication skills  and work habits
  • Network with people in the industry

How Can We Help?

  • Plan ahead! Talk with your academic advisor to determine the best time to take an internship, and whether or not you want to take it for academic credit. What do you want to learn or improve from the experience? What kind of organization do you want to work at?

  • Start searching! You can come visit us in Ramstad 112 for one-on-one help, or check out the resources that our office offers HERE. Attend the Job and Internship fair and using professional networking sites like LinkedIn can be a great resource to connect with people in your desired career field, who might know of some “insider” positions that are available!

  • Stay organized! Consider tracking who you’ve talked to, when you talked to them, and what you thought of the experience. Keep in touch with companies and people that you enjoy speaking with!

Come to resume and cover letter drop-in hours with the job description in hand, and prime your application to what the employer is looking for! Make sure that you read the application details thoroughly – some employers want additional pieces like transcripts or recommendation letters. Read more info about resumes and cover letters here.

Talk to your academic advisor to identify academic requirements and the number of credit hours for your internship. You will then need to complete a Learning Agreement to register before the current semester's add/drop date. Have an internship and need to register? Review the Learning Agreement process here.

Congrats on snagging a great internship position! Always dress to impress, be on time, and immerse yourself in the learning experience. You’ve got your foot in the door now – show that you deserve it by stepping up to the plate. Still have questions? Check out our FAQs!
