Pre-departure ISO Newsletter: Issue 2

Dear New International Students:

Hello, new Lutes (a nick name for PLU affiliates)! Have you started checking things off from the to-do list? We know how overwhelming this list can be. But trust us, you will have a much smoother transition into your new life as a Lute if you complete items on this list! We are here to help you get through this to-do list. If you get stuck or have any questions, please do not hesitate to email us!

All items below have a deadline of August 5, 2013, so please get started with these items first!

Fill Out On-Campus Housing Application!

Living in on-campus housing is a great way to make new friends and get involved in the PLU campus community! All single, full-time students are required to live on-campus unless you will be a college Junior or are over the age of 20, but all students are welcome to apply for on-campus housing. If you plan to live on-campus, please fill out the Housing Application Form as soon as possible.

Request Linens for Your On-Campus Room!

When you arrive at PLU this fall after a long international flight, the last thing you want to do is worry about getting linens for your residence hall room! Plan ahead by visiting the Linens for Rooms page on the ISS website. You can request to borrow linens from ISS for the first few nights by filling out this form. Another option is to purchase linens online through the PLU bookstore or the Residence Hall Association Linens Purchase Program and having them shipped to the ISS office. If you choose this option, please fill out this form so that your package can be stored in the ISS office.

Submit New Student Arrival Information!

As you make your travel plans to arrive at PLU for Fall Semester, remember to keep us in the loop so we can be ready to welcome you! Once you know your flight or other travel information, fill out this form to let us know when and how you’ll be arriving on campus. If you’re stressed out about arranging your own transportation from the airport to PLU, let us help! Students arriving on September 1st have the option of requesting a personal airport pick-up service in which someone will be there to greet you at baggage claim and drive you to PLU’s Campus Safety Office. To learn more about this service and to request this “meet and greet” pick-up option, visit the Airport Pick-Up page on the ISS website.

Submit Health History Form!

Health History Form along with any record of immunization is required to attend any activities at PLU. Please send all documents to the Health Center via mail: Pacific Lutheran University, Attn: Ms. Crystal Kennedy, MA, PLU Health Center, Tacoma, WA  98447, via email: kennedcm@plu.edu or via fax to: 253-536-5042
