Dear new international students,

On this issue, we will continue to guide you through the remaining items on the to-do-list prior to arriving at PLU. It is to ensure for a smooth transition into your new life as a Lute. May you have any questions or need our support, we are just an email away.

Common Reading

The program will provide you opportunity to discuss a shared academic experience with other students and faculty during New Student Orientation. Resgistrations close on August 1st, 2014.

The program is required for students enrolled in Writing 201 and Writing/FYEP101. All undergraduate students are encouraged to participate in this program.

Transcripts and Diploma

Your secondary and final post-secondary transcript is required by PLU. If the completion date is not on your secondary transcript, please also provide evidence of secondary school completion (or secondary diploma). This is due by August 25th, 2014.

To be considered official, transcript and diploma need to be sent directly from your school to PLU in a sealed envelope with a date and an original signature or a school seal. Mail documents to:

Tuition Payment

You can pay online using credit card or electronic check, or you can pay via secure wire transfer with Peer Transfer using any currency. This is due by August 25th, 2014.

To make payment online, log into Banner with your PLU ID and PIN which can be found in your PLU Admission Acceptance packet. Then select Student Services > Student Account > Make a Payment.

All major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover) are accepted with 2.5% service fee applied. You will need an American bank account to pay via electronic check.

US Health Care System & Insurance

All international students are automatically enrolled in the PLU International Student Health Insurance Plan for academic year 2014-2015. The cost is dependent on age.

US Healthcare system is challenging to navigate and highly expensive compared to other nations. Dr. Matt Freeman, Director of PLU Health and Counseling Centers highly encourages all new international students to watch this short video to learn more about US Healthcare System and what you can do to avoid high cost before arriving to US.

HOMe

We are very excited to offer brand new HOMe Program which connects new international students with local families. You will have chancce to visit a local family at their home or they will introduce you to community attractions.

The program is offered as a pilot program in Fall 2014, so the space is limited. Please sign up early!

Google Hangout On Air

Join us at the live Google Hangout On Air. Our team members will be there to answer your questions and provide you with tips on what to do before arriving at PLU.
