Systems & Communications is a service area within Information & Technology Services that focuses primarily on infrastructure level services.  Systems & Communications is responsible for campus-wide voice & data communications, as well as central server administration.  This includes maintaining the connections and equipment currently providing close to 2500 telephones and wired & wireless network connectivity for over 6700 devices.  In addition, Systems & Communications maintains two core data centers (server rooms) that house approximately 100 servers which provide web, e-mail, database, and many other services integral to the operation of Pacific Lutheran University.

Led by Director for Systems & Communications, David Allen, two teams comprise Systems & Communications:

  • The Systems team is lead by Mark Peever, Sr. Systems Administrator.  Joining Mark are Gordon Hait, Windows Systems Administrator; Russell Edington, Systems Operator; Kislay Mukherjee, Unix Systems Administrator.
  • The Communications team is lead by Garth Braund, Telecommunications Infrastructure Manager.  Joining Garth are Odis Unbehagen, Sr. Network Technician & Greg Briggs, Network Engineer as well as a small team of student technicians.
