Images can be incorporated into web documents and viewed from graphic web browsers like NetScape. The key to using images in web pages is to put the images into .GIF or .JPG file types that web browsers can read. These file can then be transferred into the public_html directory of your SAGE account for linking into web pages.

<img src="http://www.plu.edu/~YOUR_ACCOUNT/IMAGE.gif" alt="">In this example replace YOUR_ACCOUNT with your SAGE account name and replace IMAGE with the name of your image file. The alt="" portion allows you to specify alternate images or text between the quote marks if the image is not displayable by the web browser. For example, if the alt tag is left intact, no image will appear in Lynx; if IMAGE is placed between the quotes, the the word IMAGE will appear in Lynx.
