FTP Exercises

Below are some exercises you can try to test your knowledge.
  1. Use subject search tools to find FTP sites in your subject specialty.

  2. Set up a transfer directory on your hard disk.

  3. Use PEPPER as your FTP client and try the command line interface; connect to a remote FTP site and download a text file. Read the file in PEPPER.

  4. Use WinFTP or Fetch graphic user interface clients to connect to a remote site and download a file. Download a text file and read it using WordPad or SimpleText.

  5. Download an HTML file and read it using NetScape.

  6. Using Fetch or WinFTP, download a compressed file. Decompress it and try the file.

  7. Download a text file into your account on PEPPER. Read it on PEPPER. Upload it back to your hard disk. Compare to original.
