FAQS

General Questions

What exactly is a LuteBuck$ Account?
A. Your LuteCard can work like an on-campus debit card so you don't have to carry cash. The only difference is you cannot withdraw cash from your PLU LuteBuck$ account. With a LuteBuck$ Account your LuteCard can be used to make purchases where ever LuteCards are accepted. Your account will automatically be debited and your balance will be displayed on the cashier's screens. You can also  check your Lutebuck$ balance at any reader. You can request a LuteBuck$ statement any time online here.
Who can have a LuteBuck$ Account?
A. LuteBuck$ are available to the entire Pacific Lutheran University Community - staff, students, alumni and faculty, retirees and even employee spouses and dependents.
What if I lose my LuteCard?
A. You'll have to replace your LuteCard at the Campus Concierge desk for a fee, but your account balances will be safe as soon as your report your card lost.. Your money is on your account and kept track of in the computer, not on the card like a phone or copy card. If your card becomes demagnetized you will have to replace it but your LuteBuck$ are still safe. Your account is kept in the computer, not on your card so your LuteBuck$ are safe.

Immediately report your card lost to the LuteCard & Information Center during office hours (253)535-7411, online at Report Lost Card, or call Campus Safety & Information at (253)535-7441. They're available 24/7. As soon as a card is reported lost, it's no longer usable. You are liable until you report it lost (unlike a credit card there's not a liability limit) but once you do, you won't lose a penny.

How do I set up a LuteBuck$ account?
A. Your Lutecard is already designed to work like a debit card. If you have a LuteCard, you already have a LuteBuck$ account set up.  Add LuteBuck$ and be on your way to the Espresso Cart. LuteBuck$ can be purchased with check, cash, money order or bank card. Deposits may be made any time during Concierge Services hours.
Sounds good, but what does it cost?
A. NO finance charges, NO bills, NO check fee, NO ATM fee. You pay only the cost of your LuteBuck$. They are dollar for dollar. Best yet, there's no minimum balance or deposit - begin with 56¢ or $560.00. When you want to add to your balance, there is NO minimum, add as much - or as little - as you like. Just one word of caution, once money is placed on your LuteBuck$ account, it's staying there. You won't lose it, (it rolls over semester to semester) but you cannot withdraw it until you officially leave the university.
