LuteFit

LuteFit Mission

The PLU Lute Fit committee promotes a climate of wellness in which students, staff, and faculty may become more engaged in healthy behaviors.  We do this by providing resources and education related to the dimensions of cultural, emotional, intellectual, physical, social, spiritual, and vocational wellness.

LuteFit Strategic Goals

Guided by the Wellness Wheel, has decided to focus for 2012-2013 on: 1) Drugs (namely SATF/Alcohol and Marijuana/Synthetic types) and the NCAA Choices Grant;  2) Exercise/Fitness for students (and staff/profs) and WAP programs; and 3) Food and Nutrition (especially the Commons).

LuteLoop Color Run: May 3, 2013

The Lute Loop is PLU's annual 5k run/walk.  It is open to the PLU community of faculty, staff, students and family members.  The course begins down at the PLU Track.  It is an exciting opportunity to come together as a healthy community each spring. What's more, pre-registered participants are entered into a raffle for fun PLU prizes! Registration is now closed for this year!  Stay tuned for information on a fall event and next years event.

The Wellness Wheel

Wellness Wheel

Halbert L. Dunn, a U.S. doctor, began using the phrase high level wellness in the 1950s, and defined wellness as "an integrated method of functioning which is oriented toward maximizing the potential of which the individual is capable. It requires that the individual maintain a continuum of balance and purposeful direction within the environment where he is functioning." He also stated that: "Wellness is a direction in progress toward an ever-higher potential of functioning."  Click on the image for more information!

NCAA CHOICES Grant

The misuse of alcohol by college students is of great concern to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
In an effort to educate students about the risks involved with the misuse of alcohol, the NCAA has, through the support of the NCAA Foundation and Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc., developed CHOICES, a grant program for alcohol education.
Through CHOICES, the NCAA provides funding for NCAA member institutions and conferences for the development, implementation and evaluation of effective alcohol-education and prevention programs on college campuses.
