Cultural Wellness
Examples of culturally-well people:- Advocating and affirming cultural diversity including sexual orientation, religion, gender, racial and ethnic backgrounds, age groups, and disabilities, and appreciating the uniqueness of each culture
- Being conscious of your personal cultural affiliations
- Willing to learn about, interact with, and coexist with persons of cultures you are unfamiliar with
- Understanding that each person’s cultural identity is unique and can be made up of many subcultures
- Connecting to your culture in meaningful ways
- Recognizing the legitimacy and contributions of varying cultures
- Effectively communicating to members of different cultures
- Continually striving to be aware of all the cultures in your life and integrating them into it including micro-cultures such as family, work, school, and various affiliations.
