Hands-on conservation program launched by PLU’s military outreach director helps connect students to the earth

Michael Farnum started a unique land conservation program that any student can get involved with, create connections and see a project from start to finish. “My favorite part of this has been connecting people to the environment,” he said. “I love the plants, species and sharing all of those things.”

PLU works with local Habitat for Humanity to build lasting partnership, sustainable community, homes for people in need

To start, CCES raised a $10,000 grant to support the build of a home in the Woods development. Once the money was raised, about 250 PLU students traveled to the Woods to assist with the build. Students contributed to tasks such as construction, writing messages on the steps of the home and attending the dedication ceremony.

PLU faculty member and acclaimed filmmaker were friends as teens in Mexico City, will reunite for screening of “Güeros”

PLU Visiting Assistant Professor of English Christian Gerzso was able to schedule the Washington state premiere of "Güeros" in large part because he and director Alonso Ruizpalacios were friends as teenagers growing up in Mexico City. Ruizpalacios will visit PLU for the screening and will discuss the film with attendees.
