1. Use the radio buttons to choose function 1.
    a. Do you think that function 1 is continuous?
    b. Use the first slider to set the focal point on x=2. Then use the second slider to estimate the slope of the function at x=2 by adjusting the slope of the green line. According to your estimate, what is the slope?
    c. Use the third slider to "zoom in" on the point x=2. When you have "zoomed in" as far as the applet allows, you can readjust the slope of the green line. Now what is your estimate of the slope? How far off was your answer to the previous bulleted question?
    d. How far do you think it is necessary to "zoom in" on the function to estimate the slope well?
    e. Do you still think that function 1 is continuous?
  2. Press "reset," and then use the radio buttons to choose function 2. Do not be surprised, function 2 looks quite similar to function 1! Repeat all parts of question 1 for function 2.
