The TIM Certificate


Individuals holding an MBA degree from accredited universities are encouraged to pursue a Post-MBA Certificate in Technology and Innovation Management (TIM). This certificate updates the skills and abilities of MBA degree holders. Requirements include the completion of 16 semester hours in TIM coursework. There is a reduced application process and the GMAT is not required. Those holding other master's degrees are not eligible for admission due to lack of grounding in MBA core requirements.

Program Design:
A certificate-seeking student may make a reduced application (as compared to the comprehensive MBA application) seeking admittance to the post-MBA TIM certificate program. Required materials include:
The certificate requires successful completion of 12 semester credits. The following classes are required:
  • BUSA 523 Managing Innovation (3)
  • BUSA 555 Knowledge Management (3)
  • BUSA 570 Technology Management (3))
  TIM Electives – 3 semester hours of elective credit are required:
  • BUSA 542 Leading Change (3)
  • BUSA 577 Project Management (3)
  • BUSA 578 Database Applications in Business (3)
  • Approved BUSA 587, 588, 589 Special Topics (1-3) or Independent Study (1-3)
If a student has received a PLU MBA in the past five years, previous TIM academic course work is counted toward completion of the certificate requirements. A minimum of nine post-MBA credits is required.

If a student has received an MBA from another institution in the past five years, equivalent previous academic course work is considered toward completion of the certificate requirements. A minimum of ten post-MBA credits is required.

The post-MBA certificate in TIM is posted to the graduate academic transcript.
