For exceptional students interested in studying and performing music, there is no better place than Pacific Lutheran University. The Department of Music offers more than 250 scholarships each year for student-musicians who seek to develop their skills alongside some of the most talented student-musicians and faculty members in the Pacific Northwest.
Ranging from $1,000-$12,000 per year, and renewed up to three additional years, music scholarships are available to students in a single specific area (for example - strings, voice, brass, etc). Auditions are required and acceptance is competitive. However, for those who receive PLU music scholarships, the opportunities are endless.
To be considered for a music scholarship for the 2012-13 academic year, both an application to PLU, as well as a scholarship contact form must be completed. You DO NOT have to be admitted to PLU to audition for a music scholarship. Auditions for the 2012-13 academic year will take place Feb. 24 - 26 on the PLU campus.
For students of the art, the opportunities to study and perform music are as diverse as the music they will create. With more than a dozen performing groups and 100 concerts a year, student-musicians create music of all eras and styles - choral, band, symphonic, operatic, solo, chamber, jazz.
There are numerous reasons why the region's most exceptional student-musicians have found inspiration at PLU. PLU's nationally recognized Department of Music features state-of-the-art performing and rehearsal facilities. Student-musicians are taught and mentored by a faculty of performers, composers and authors, drawn from the nation's finest conservatories and universities.
