International Student Orientation - Spring

Welcome New            International Students!

In addition to events for new domestic students, we have several events designed just for you.  Below is your complete schedule

Sunday, February 3

Move Into Residence Halls                  After 1pm
Campus Safety and Information Office, Harstad Hall

Please pick up your room key here and then you may move into your room and get settled.

Monday, February 4

Health Center Visits                               8am-12:30pm & 1:30-5pm
Visit the Health Center as soon as possible after you arrive.  During this visit, you will complete Health Center documents, learn about PLU’s health insurance and make sure your immunization requirements are met.  Please bring all medical papers with you.

International Student Services              8am-5pm

Student Involvement & Leadership Office on the lower level of the University Center
Drop by the ISS Office to pick up your Welcome Packet, ask questions about your class schedule, and sign up for Shuttles to Stores.  Bring your Passport and I-20 with you.

Shuttles to Stores                                     11am, 1pm, 3pm

Meet at Student Involvement & Leadership Office on the lower level of the University Center
Come along to purchase groceries, bedding, and anything else you need to settle into your new home.

Tuesday, February 5

Please check in with us and bring your questions here throughout the day.  A welcome packet of information will be waiting for you!  Coffee and morning snacks provided.

Campus Tour                                             9:30am

Meet outside of the Regency Room, University Center
Wondering where you will park?  Need to find your classes?  Looking for a place to hang out between classes?  Craving a cup of coffee?  Take advantage of this special Orientation Campus Tour (45-60 min.).

Essentials                                               10:30am

Regency Room, University Center
This session answers our most frequently asked questions from new students.  Experts representing Academic Advising, Academic Assistance, Disability Support Services, Writing Center, Language Resource Center, Library, and Registrar will share about their services and outline academic timelines.  The offices of Student Services, Financial Aid, and Student Employment will also speak about using the Student Services Center, understanding your financial aid award, and finding a job on or off campus.

Welcome Lunch                                    Noon

Join us for lunch, your guests are welcome to attend too!  Over lunch, you will be welcomed by Vice President for Student Life & Dean of Students, Dr. Laura Majovski and Provost, Dr. Patricia O’Connell Killen.  Continuing students will share how they get involved, make a difference, and explore the future by taking advantage of opportunities outside of the classroom.  You will also learn how the offices of Athletics, Campus Ministry, Campus Safety, Counseling Center, Disability Support Services, Diversity Center, Health Center, Residential Life, Student Involvement & Leadership and the Women’s Center provide support and resources for you to succeed both personally and professionally at PLU.

Immigration                                         1pm

Get all the facts and forms for U.S. immigration.  Learn about traveling in and out of the country while you are here, and get all your questions answered.  Bring your Passport and I-20 with you.

Wondering where to go to get answers?  This is when you will learn which offices answer which type of question.  This will be your guide for the year!

Financial Information                        2pm

Regency Room & Room 205, University Center
Take care of all your financial matters, complete paperwork and ask questions.
